1st Day: Thessalonica 


Arrival at Thessalonica airport, meet and assist at airport. Transfer to the hotel. In the meantime our guide will give us information about history and customs. Visit to the Archaeological Museum where the treasures from Vergina Royal Tombs are kept, such as gold and silver vessels, coffins, statues of ancient goddess (Aphrodite) etc. Overnight in Thessalonica.


2nd Day: Thessalonica

Thesaloniki port in GreceOur city-tour starts with a view of the most important Byzantine churches and monumental structures, such as St. Sofia built in 8th century, Rotunda, Saint Demetrios Cathedral, the largest in Greece, part of Via Egnatia, the Triumphal arch of Galerius, the white Tower (Lefkos Pyrgos), the Symbol of the city, some Jewish monuments and other sightseeing. Free afternoon for the city market and shopping.   Overnight.


3rd Day:  Vergina

Vergina Northern Greece After breakfast we depart for a visit to the city of Aigai, the ancient first capital of the Kingdom of Macedonia that was revealed on 19th century nearby Vergina, in northern Greece. The most important remains are the monumental palace, lavishly decorated with mosaics and painted stuccoes, and the burial ground with more than 300 tumuli, some of which are dated back to 11th century B.C. One of the royal tombs in the Great Tumulus is identified to be that of Philip II, who conquered all Greek cities, paving the way for his son Alexander and the expansion of the Hellenistic world. We will visit the most rewarding museum in Macedonia. Return back to Thessalonica. Overnight.

4th Day:Thessalonica - Philippi - Lydia - Kavala

After breakfast departure for a northern part of Greece visiting the Archaeological Sites of Philippi (360 BC) where still exist the ancient theatre (during the summer time there performances of ancient theatre and folklore manifestations on), St. Paul’s prison, the forum etc. Archaeological Sites of PhilippiSt. Paul established here the first Christian European church, built on 5th century. Little further at Lydia village, exists the river, which we will visit, where St. Paul baptised the first European Christian and named her Lydia. On our return back to Kavala we will admire from St. Silas area the panoramic view of Kavala since we will priory see a part of old Via Egnatia. At the afternoon we suggest a walk to the Medieval Castle at the Old City of Kavala where the Egyptian monuments (Imaret, House of Mochamet Ali).  An optional attendance of Greek Macedonian Night with folklore dances and songs of the area. Overnight

5th Day: Thassos island

After breakfast we caThassos Island Greecetch the ferryboat for Thassos Island, the greenest island of Mediterranean. Arrival at Thassos, sightseeing of the island by vehicle. We will reach the beautiful picturesque town of Limenas (Thassos nowadays). Here we will visit the museum, which is one of the most important archaeological museums in Greek region.  We will see the postcard traditional village of Panagia, the historical
Monastery of Archangel, Potos village and other traditional villages. Optional swimming. Return back to Kavala in the afternoon. Overnight.

6th Day: Mount Athos excursion

Mount Athos GreeceAfter breakfast we will go to Ouranoupolis to catch the boat for a cruise to Mount Athos (Monastic Community with lots of Byzantine Monasteries). Return to Ouranoupolis, arrival at Thessalonica and overnight.


7th Day: Thessalonica airport

Breakfast and transfer to airport for the return flight.
